• Advanced Placement Program

     

    Advanced Placement (AP) courses provide a rigorous curriculum based on critical thinking and analysis.  CJUSD AP courses are filled with AVID, GATE, and other advanced students who need a more challenging program to meet their academic needs and are capable of beginning their college level courses.

    AP students are encouraged to take the AP exam in May each year. 

    GTHS offers many AP courses including AP Calculus AB, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Language, AP Literature, AP Spanish Literature, AP Spanish Language, AP French Language, AP World History, AP US History, AP Psychology, AP Economic and AP Government.

    How Do I Enroll in an AP Class?
    Once you've decided to take the AP challenge it's easy to enroll.

    • Talk to an AP teacher or the AP Coordinator at your school about the courses you want to take. Discuss the course's workload and any preparation you might need.
    • Meet with your counselor and sign up for the class for the following term.
    • Make sure to complete any summer reading/study help guides you receive.
    • Sign up to take the Advanced Placement test when offered.
