• Dear Cooley Families,

It is with great pleasure that I welcome you to Cooley Ranch Elementary for the 2018-2019 school year as principal.  I have been very fortunate to have worked at Cooley for the past five years as Assistant Principal and am looking forward to continuing to build relationships with students, families, and the community.  Our teachers are excited to work with students and families toward their educational goals.

Attendance Matters...Statistics have shown that students with good attendance on average achieve higher grades and enjoy school more. We encourage families to ensure their students attend school each day from bell to bell - arrive on time and stay the entire day. Students who have perfect attendance receive many rewards and incentives including an end of year field trip to Fiesta Village.

Communication promotes student success and we encourage families to communicate with their students’ teachers frequently. Emailing the teacher is an easy way to keep in touch and all teachers’ emails are listed on our website. We also encourage families to get involved in our parent groups:  SSC - School Site Council, ELAC - English Language Advisory Committee, AAPAC - African American Parent Advisory Committee, or PTO - Parent Teacher Organization. Information on these parent groups may be obtained in our school office or on our website. Cooley offers many family opportunities for families to stay connected and gain knowledge of student learning.  These events include Parent Resource Nights, Award Assemblies, Milk and Cookies Reading Night, Fall Parade, and much, much more!

We are a PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) School and have submitted for Silver certification in Tier I as of May 2018. This school year, we will focus on developing our Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports. Tier I focuses on teaching students school-wide expectations through lessons given by our staff.  In Tier 2 and Tier 3, students that are not meeting meeting these expectations are given additional supports to gain success. Please reference the Parent-Student Handbook for additional information on PBIS and our School-wide Matrix of expectations. Students consistently receive positive reinforcements for exhibiting Good Choices, Respect, and Responsibility including “Paw”some tickets, incentives, and recognitions.

One of the newest features at Cooley is our Learning Commons.  We were awarded a grant from CJUSD to renovate our library into a 21st Century Library and Learning Commons.  Our Learning Commons has become an extension of our classrooms where students research, collaborate, explore, and create in all academic areas.
