Welcome to the 2015-2016 school year. Our theme for this year is “Cooley Ranch: Home of the Readers!” Literacy is the Districtwide focus for this year. Our staff at Cooley is looking forward to working with all of you to meet your student’s needs. Common Core State Standards will continue to be the instructional guide in your student’s classroom. The teachers have geared up for another year of delivering these standards in a meaningful way. Your enthusiasm and support of your student and our teachers will create a winning combination!
Student success is also measured by their attendance. Statistics show that students have higher self-esteem and a greater chance of educational success when they attend school daily. Being on time gives them an opportunity to start their day on a positive note and with all of their classmates. They do not miss out on instruction if they are in school from bell to bell. Let’s give our Cooley students the maximum opportunity for success and ensure they are in school on time each day and stay until dismissal.
We encourage parents to communicate frequently with your student’s teacher(s). The teachers will be giving you information at our Back to School Night in August regarding home/school communication. When students know that Home and School communicate, they feel supported and are more likely to succeed.
Cooley will continue to offer additional opportunities for you, as a parent/guardian, to gain knowledge about what your student(s) is learning. Parent activity nights and workshops will be offered throughout the year. After school tutoring and extended day classes for students will also be offered.
Our Cooley Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) hosts many events throughout the school year. They are planning for the annual Fall Festival, Fall Book Fair, Cookies & Milk Night, Movie Night, and Spirit Wear Sales, to name just a few. Watch for the flyers for these exciting activities.
