U.S. Grant Grizzlies
Organization of our K-6 school is basically self-contained classrooms. Enrollment hovers around 700. We have 30 classroom teachers. Our primary classes participate in Class Size Reduction with a student teacher ratio of 24:1. Our intermediate classes average 32 students.
An instrumental/band program will be offered this year for students in grades 4-6. We offer a very exciting learning experience for identified students, grades 4th-6th in the Gifted and Talented Educational Program (GATE). We also offer opportunities for intensive instruction throughout the school year. Our English Language learners are placed with teachers holding appropriate certification in teaching English to students of other languages. Programs differ from class to class, but in all cases each student is expected to do their best. If he/she is not working well, parents may be contacted in an effort to motivate the student. We believe education is a joint home- school project.
Grant School has an excellent library facility available to all students and parents. Parents are a valued component of our students' success and are encouraged to take an active role in their child's education. Parent participation in our school's Booster Club, School Site Council, or English Language Advisory Committee is encouraged.
